Swimmer Amelia MacKinnon Wins Two Section VI Titles

Kenmore girls swim team member Amelia MacKinnon, also a junior at Kenmore East High School, has punched her ticket to the NYSPHSAA Swim Championships following a strong showing at the recent Section VI girls swim championships.
MacKinnon took 1st overall in the 100 fly and the 100 backstroke to be named the Section VI champion and earn a spot in both of those events at the State Championships in November. The Section VI girls swim championships were held October 28-30 at Sweet Home High School in Amherst.
Kenmore finished 6th overall as a team with 165 points and had several team members compete in A Final events. The 200 medley relay finished 5th overall, swimmer Cadence Pisa finished 6th overall in the 100 backstroke and 7th overall in the 200 IM, and Heather Malkiewicz finished 7th overall in the 100 breaststroke.
The NYSPHSAA girls swim championships will be held November 21-22 at the Webster Aquatic Center.
